Thanksgiving 2008
Well it has been a week since I posted, so here goes. Wow the month of November flew by! I can hardly believe that it is now December! There are just three weeks until Christmas!!! Note to self: You might want to do some Christmas shopping, and put up the Christmas tree. Wednesday at 1:30, Jace woke up crying, saying that his ear hurt. When he tells us his ear hurts we listen. So after making several calls and not finding any appointments, we headed to Tyler to the ER. After seeing the doctor, we found out why his ear was hurting. He had a raging ear infection in his right ear. It amazes me how resilient kids are with illnesses. Jace got to go spend the night with Pops and Meme. As Joe was working on Wednesday night and I had to be at work at 6:30 a.m. on Thursday. I spent Thanksgiving at work, and Jace and Joe were in Nacogdoches at his parents. After I got off work, I headed over there. I ate some leftovers, and finished watching Texas beat A&M. Jace had a fun time playing with his cousins. We sure missed the rest of our families that we did not get to see. Saturday was Jace's actual 7th Birthday. The past seven years he has continued to amaze Joe and me. He has his moments, but he is a very sweet boy, and we are very blessed. We hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving!

Forgot the Camera :(
Today was the Syrup Festival in Henderson. After living here for three years, this was our first festival to attend. Boy was it an experience. I would rate it up there with being at Six Flags on one of their busiest days. I did not take my camera. So I don't have any pictures. Jace and I tried to go get money out of the ATM at the downtown bank. After we made it around all the people, I drove up to where the ATM is, and there was a line about 10 yards long of people. This should have prepared me for what chaos lie ahead! So, I decided to go to the bank on the other side of town. We got our money, finally found a parking spot, and walked about four blocks to the booths. We walked around, looked at all of the crafts, and bought cookies from the Scouts (our Troop 547), and some relish. Then Jace decided to try out the paintball guns. (First photo missed) Then we got some Tater Twisters. They were very yummy! We then made our way to the hay ride to go to the Depot (Second photo op. missed) We got inside the Depot fence, and watched the syrup makers make fresh cane syrup the old fashion way. They even used horses and mules to turn the crank that crushes the sugar cane. (Third missed pic.) Our next activity was to go on a treasure hunt using a metal detector. Jace found three coins. (Fourth missed pic.) Then we were on our way to make a rope. Jace had fun making the rope, but he thought it was hard work turning that crank. (Fifth missed pic.) I will have to take a picture of the rope he made, and post it later. We made our way back to the hayride, and to the car. Our day at the Syrup Festival was fun, but tiring. We came home and waited on the Texas Tech Red Raiders game vs. OSU, he didn't even make it to the kickoff. Making rope and treasure hunting proved to be too much for him today. We hope everyone had a blessed week, and look forward to another fun filled one.

Happy Halloween!
Well, for most children it would be a great day. As fate would have it, Jace started running a fever when we carving our pumpkin on Thursday night :( After much cussing and discussing, he did not feel good enough to go to school on Friday. They had many fun activities going on at school. First of all, Friday is GT day, which he looks forward to each week. The Creature Teacher was going to be at school as well. The kids sold over $21,000 worth of popcorn, so the PTO treated the entire school to the lady who brings lots of animals for the kids to meet. Yesterday was the "Fall Party" as well. And not to mention it being Halloween, so he missed out on Trick-or-Treating! And as many of you know for a child to miss out on all of these activities, he did not feel good! So I took a few pictures of him in his costume that he was going to wear. I am also including a picture of him in a (cheap) costume that we got for him to wear to his Family Fun Night for Boy Scouts. We hope everyone had a safe and fun Halloween!

Our First Blog
Okay, we are going to try this out and see how it works! I am hoping to keep this up so that those of you who are far away, can keep up with how big Jace is growing and what is going on in our lives. Well, here goes. Jace started first grade this year, and is learning new things each day. He is becoming a very good reader. Sometimes I wish he couldn't spell or read. I am not able to keep secrets from him by spelling things to Joe anymore. As many of you know, Jace decided he wanted to give Cub Scouts a try. This past weekend, Jace and I went on a Mom and Me campout at the Pirtle Scout Camp. We had lots of fun, but it was exhausting. Jace and I shot BB guns, slingshots, and bow & arrows. We also made a sword and shield, and Jace got knighted for our first Mom and Me campout. There were about 20 tents in our one campsite, way to go Pack 547!! We had a Pack campfire Saturday night. We roasted weenies, made smores and slept in our tent. I think the temperature dropped to 50 degrees, but we stayed warm. I will post some pictures as soon as I figure out how to.
