To the Zoo, and The Music Program Too!

The past few weeks have been very busy. I was sick for 4 days, two weeks ago. So sorry for the late post. The week I was sick, Jace had a music program at school. He had a speaking part at the first of the program. He did so good! I did not even know that he had a part. He had been singing some of the songs at home, but he never told me about the speaking part. He welcomed everyone to the last music program at Central Elementary. Next year, Pre-K - Fifth grade are moving to a NEW school. The new facilities are going to be very nice. Some of the schools in Henderson are maybe 50 yrs old. This will be a nice change for the children. They are also going to a standardized dress code next year. So, he will be wearing khaki's and polo's. We will see how well this goes. All of the kids in the music program. Jace is on the top row, to the far left. Jace and his music teacher Mrs. Ricks (our pastor's wife, also) This week, we went to the Caldwell Zoo in Tyler. His class was suppose to go April 30, but thanks to the H1N1 a.k.a. Swine Flu, it was postponed to May 21. Hope you enjoy our pictures. We had lots of fun! Happy Mother's Day!

We would like to wish every mother a Happy Mother's Day! The past couple of weeks at the Ford house has been a busy one. Last week (4/27-5/2) was my long week. I worked Mon. & Tues., I then had class on Thurs. & Fri. Then I went back to work on Sat. While I was at work, Joe and Jace headed south to Nacogdoches to spend time with family. They went fishing on Saturday and Sunday. They caught enough fish to bring some home with them. They had a great time with MeMe and Pops. He has been working very hard on learning to ride his bike, and so they took the bike with them. MeMe and Pops's driveway is straighter and less bumpy than ours. Joe had taken his training wheels off, and was putting them in the garage when he turned to see Jace riding. We are so proud of him. I was so surprised to receive a video like this on my phone at work! This week has been my short week at work. We have been working on re-decorating Jace's room to Texas Tech. I finally finished painting!!! This week will be my long week again. I will work the weekend, then back to the re-decorating next week. I will post pictures of the finished project. This week, Jace worked hard at school on my Mother's day gifts. He made a card, wrote a story, and made a picture holder. I love his stories and cards he makes for me. For supper today, Joe and Jace took me to my favorite restaurant, Texas Roadhouse. We then went to the mall to get a battery for my watch and got cookies....there goes my diet;) We also went to Andy's to get frozen custard concrete's (it is like going to Marble Slab). They are so delicious. We hope everyone had a Happy Mother's Day!!!

Waaayyy Tooooo Loonnnnnggg!

Well, it has been a very long time since I blogged last! I love to read everyone's blogs. I just don't think that I have any news to blog weekly. I could have blogged a month ago, but didn't. Here is what has been going on for the past 3 months. For Spring Break, we went to Six Flags. We were there for 2 days, and rode maybe 4 "big rides". There were so many people there!! I waited in line for 45 minutes for 2 funnel cakes!!! We also waited for 45 minutes just to ride the Judge Roy Scream. We did have a good time, just being together! Here we go! Jace riding the spinning the ballons. The only ride that didn't have at least a 15 min. wait. So, he rode it again, and again. Flash and Hawk Girl with Jace Now for our Easter. We dyed eggs on Sat. night, and Jace informed me that they would have been more colorful if I hadn't forgot to buy the vinegar. It rained all day on Sunday ;( So, we didn't have an eventful day, and to make matters worse, my lunch that I had worked so hard on was ruined. F.Y.I., if you want to cook a ham, buy a ham, not a pork roast. Lesson learned! Jace coloring eggs Dipping the eggs The finished product... colorful eggs and colorful hands "Guns Up" Now for the most recent news.... Jace was allergy tested again on Tuesday. He is still veeerrryyy allergic to dust. The good news is the Allergist does not want to put Jace on allergy shots! Yea!!! (for both Mom and Jace, giving your own child shots is not fun) He was doing great on a mixture of Singulair, Nasonex, and Xyzal, until he had to quit taking them to go to the doctor. By the time Tuesday came he was begging us to just give him his medicine. That was the worst thing, but he is feeling better now. Today, we went to "Relay Day" at Jace's school. The kids have been working all week on the different stations they went to. There was Tug'o'War, Sac Races, a Water Relay, an Obstacle Course, Free Throws, and of course Snack Time. Parents participated in Tug'o'War. It was Parents vs. Kids, we (the parents) were instructed to "let the kids win". They won FAIR-AND-SQUARE!!! His class was STRONG!!!! We had lots of fun. Jace's teacher was awarded as Teacher of the Year, and she had asked if I would stay with the class while she went to her reception, so I did. I was not alone though ;) Mrs. F, our sitter's mom & the reading "specialist", was with me. Thank Goodness!! After substituting last year and today, I still believe it takes a very special person to teach. We have been very blessed with Jace's teacher this year. We will miss her very much next year. His future teachers have very large shoes to fill. I will try to update more often, but I am not going to promise anything. Joe and I are doing well. We just work, and run Jace's Taxi Service. We are looking forward to the summer, and hoping to get to visit family! Here are a few shots of Relay Day: Bassett's Braves making silly faces. Tug'O'War Jace & Jayden (the sitter) Sac Races Have A Blessed Week, or until I write again.

The First of 2009

I know it has been a long time since I last posted. I am sure there have been exciting things happening around The Ford house, but we have been very busy. Our new year started with my birthday. Jace and Joe got me this RED VELVET cake. My favorite. Joe and I have been busy working and taking Jace to all of his activities. He is playing Upward Basketball. For those of you that are not familiar with Upward Basketball, it is a Christian based program. The players learn new Bible verses each week, and everyone plays the same amount of time, with a prayer before each game and a devotional at each half-time. It has taken him a few games and practices to adjust, as this is his first year of playing. Jace is the very far kid. If you look closely you can see his face. He is also involved in Cub Scouts. February is the month for the Pinewood Derby. He and I made his car (Joe was sick), and let me tell you this was a chore! He picked the design, and I cut it. This year we cheated, at Hobby Lobby they have these wraps that look like a painted car. It was very nice, since we had a limited amount of time. I was not able to go to the race, but Jace and Joe had a great time. We hope everyone has had a good 2009, so far.
